HOTEL COMPENSATION DEADLINE: 32 hour volunteers that want the 1/4 room hotel compensation must request it by Sunday, May 12. After that day only vouchers will be available.

At GAMA, we work hard and we play hard. Come join our volunteer family and find out what the show is really all about. Many of our volunteers have been with us for years - and hopefully will be with us for years to come! Volunteers are ranked by year and are recognized every year at our Volunteer Party, which happens on the Sunday evening of Origins. All volunteers receive a Volunteer tee-shirt.
16 hour Origins Volunteers: Each year an attendees registers as a 16 hour volunteer they are compensated for their badge. If a 16 hour volunteer pre-registers, they will have a badge waiting for them at the show. Volunteering for 16 hours does NOT add to volunteering seniority. A volunteer may request the location that they wish to work, but it is not guaranteed.
32 hour Origins Volunteers: Each year an attandee registers as a 32 hour volunteer they qualify for Seniority compensation as indicated below. A volunteer may request the location that they wish to work, but it is not guaranteed. A volunteer may also request a hotel roommate; however, the request must be confirmed as mutual. There is no guarantee Origins will be able to honor rooming requests but we will make every effort to do so.
Volunteers - (32 hours) - Years 1-5! Origins Volunteers are compensated for their badge, and either 1/4th of a hotel room OR $60 dollars in Origins BucksTM (vouchers).
Seniors - (32 hours) - Years 6-8! When you pass your five year mark, you are officially an old-timer. To say thank you, all volunteers with more than five years of service will receive their badge, lodging of three volunteers per hotel room at the show, as well as 10 generic tokens. In addition, all first time Seniors will be invited to a recognition party to honor their years of service.
Veterans - (32 hours) - Years 9+! Now you're getting up there! Anyone who has volunteered with GAMA for more than eight years get lodging of three volunteers per hotel room at the show, as well as 20 generic tokens. In addition, all first time Veterans will be invited to a recognition party to honor their years of service.

Origins also uses volunteers as Assistant Area Managers and Area Managers. If you are interested in volunteering as an Assistant or Area manager please contact our volunteer coordinator or a staff member at the show.
The Origins Assistant Area Manager position. This is a position of responsibility for the show. An Assistant Area Manager reports to an Area manager, and acts as the Area Manager when one is not available. Most of our Area Managers are normally pulled from this pool of people who have stepped up to help. To compensate our Assistants, we offer a reimbursement for travel, ($350 max), per diem ($20 per day, max 5 days) and are allowed three volunteers per hotel room.
The Origins Area Manager position. This is a position of responsibility at the show. An Area Manager may have some outlay of extra time dedicated to GAMA and preparing for the coming shows. Area Managers are compensated their travel ($350 max), per diem ($20 per day, max 5 days) and allowed two volunteers per hotel room.
